Nike Fixed Shoes

Prolly had these posted up on his blog awhile back. I won't say I'm a huge shoe head, but that's mostly because I don't have the money to keep up with the shows that are coming out. But I love this shows and will be saving up money to get these.

The Weekend

I actually got to make it out to alot of the stuff that was going on this pasted weekend, and I have to say I had a great time. Pop Off was a blast, there are always good people out there. I even got a ticket to the Ratatat show. Got out on Sunday for the Poker Alley cat race, for somethings that was put together last second it was really fun. It had it's little flaws, but I'm sure if they do it again they'll workout all the bugs. but overall all it was a fun time.
I arrived at The Milkshake party with Mike right around noon. It started well and end well, with a little rain inbetween. I was apart of the Vegan Hotdog eating contest, and that was a blast. Antimo, on of the cats, was across from me. He happened to be the first and only person I believe to throwup during the contest. I know there were lots of pictures of that taken. I'll try to get ahold of some of them and post them up. I got six down, one of our good friends Buddy put down 8. But that wasn't even enough to win, first place was taken with a solid 10. It was fun, and I enjoyed myself. I had to go grab a nice acually "hot" vegan dog after the contest was over.
They also unveil a pretty sick moral done by Andrew Spears behind the covert shop. If you have the time you should swing by there and check it out.
Besides that I just hungout with friend. My friend Jullian had her bday on sunday so we went out and had a casual night at BBq. I was exhausted by Sunday night, I was fighting to keep my eyes open. But it was a good time.

This weekend is the 2nd race in the sprint series, the registation spot is going to be ACE Metric. Resgisteration is going to start at 1pm. The acuatly races will begin at 3pm. Please come out and support, even if just to watch and cheer your friends on.

Blaq Design LTD

Here's a little bit about the guys over at Blaq. They were really nice people and got right back to us the same day about sponsoring the race, and will be making a costume bag for the overall winner. go check out their gear.

blaq design ltd is based out of Kent, Ohio and we started sometime in 2007. There are 4 of us, Jeremy Neal, Paul Johnson, Jon Neal, and Aaron Painter, and a few others, like our photographer Chris Barnes. We met because we all rode bikes and had an interest in forming a company. We all share a green outlook and see sustainable manufacturing as the way to go. With the exception of a few early frames and bars (made by Solid Bikes in CA), everything has been handmade in-house.

Not long after starting we hit on the idea of making a few messenger bags. Paul prototyped the original late in '07. It took about 20 bags of trying different materials and designs before we had something that looked presentable and another 20 bags before they really started looking good. Since the bags started coming together we decided to invest in new machines and materials. We currently have 5 messenger bag sizes, 2 hip pouches, top tube pads, laptop sleeves, wallets, t-shirts, and we are basically done with backpacks. The line is constantly evolving as we introduce new stuff and make design changes (we count on feedback from customers).

Almost every bag we have done lately has had some sort of custom screen printed artwork. Paul has been steadily improving his skills and has been making some really impressive multiple color designs (check the new update on the site today). We have been trying to grow the business, which means we have been doing a bunch of custom stuff for next to no charge to get noticed (Doom bags for example). Our bags are a little cheaper or have more features for the same price as anything else out there. We hope that once you actually see one and compare them that you decide to pick one up.

The other side of the business is our frame company, Gonzo Bikes. We currently offer a BMX frame and bars, which are sold on the blaq site. We plan to offer a full line of components and frames with custom powder coating / anodizing, and softgoods, but all our efforts for now are concentrated on blaq. Once things start to stabilize we will shift some time back to Gonzo.

The biggest things were working on right now are backpacks, and a major update to the site. Jon does the web development and he's working on switching to a better javascript framework, and creating a custom product builder. In a month or so you will be able to go the site and choose every detail your bag down to the thread color. I was stitching up the newest backpack proto last night and it should be the last before they appear also. We try to keep the site updated with the latest stuff we make because everything has been continually improving and we want to show the evolution.

It's been awhile kids, oh so sorry. Got alot of catching up to do, it's been a hot second since I've had the chance to post anything, get to a computer has been ruff. Between working and trying to stay on my bike all I want to do when I get home is relax. But I'm here now, and we have been busy doing things. I also found some free time the other day to make it over to Ace Metric this past weekend and sit down with Blackshaw to chat alittle bit about the shop and life. So keep your eyes peel for that to be up on the blog shortly. I've got a few pictures of things that we've been out and about doing, trying to upload all of those but having some trouble. But they're coming!!! We just got a seagull bag in the other day for the sprints, which are on the 28th of this month, so don't forget kids.
